Cameras inside jewelry & glasses?

Kodak CEO, Antonio M Perez, gave an interview to the New York Times last week in which he hints at the future of cameras as Kodak sees it.

His comparison of digital cameras is to that of cars. Cars could not overtake horse drawn carriages until gas stations were built. Digital cameras are in a similar position. The technology is there, but the underlying support system is not.

Perez also mentions a partnership with Motorola that will lead to wireless devices that can take perfect pictures. Cameras will show up not only in cameras, but jewelry and glasses.

A couple things about this are disturbing. Most notably, the quote “film is gone, and single purpose cameras are on their way out, too.” I like having a camera on my cell phone just in case I see something I want a photo of and am not carrying my camera. But, I’m not going to take my cell phone out on a photo shoot. And, as much as I like digital capture, I still like film. There is something about film; it just has a feel to it.
