KonicaMinolta announced today that they will be discontinuing their camera and photographic material lines.

A few key points from the press release:

  • Some of their cameras will be transferred to Sony, who will continue supporting the Minolta lens mount.
  • Color film and paper are being transitioned out and will officially stop being produced by the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007.
  • Photo mini-labs will no longer be produced after March 31, 2006. Noritsu Koki Co., Ltd will provide maintenance for existing customers.
  • 3,700 employees will be removed by September 2007.
