Nikon (almost) dropping film cameras

Yesterday Nikon announced that they will be discontinuing all but 2 of their film SLR cameras, calling it ‘reshaping’. This is being done in response to the increase in demand for compact digital cameras and decreased demand for film bodies.

Two cameras, the F6 and FM10, will be left in the Nikon line up. This will allow two strong segments of photographers, professionals with the F6 and dedicated amateurs with the FM10, continue to use film.

Nikon is planning a 10 year period of post-sale service for these products starting at the last date of sale.
